Wildcats fail to take advantage of home cooking during BC Female AAA Hockey tourney weekend

The Kootenay Wildcats had the rest of the B.C. Female Midget AAA Hockey League right where they wanted them — back in the Kootenays.
However, the Cats failed to take advantage of home cooking, scoring a single win in four attempts during a B.C. Female Midget AAA Hockey League playday weekend in Nelson and Castlegar.
The opened the weekend with a 1-0 win over Northern Cougars of Prince George on a goal by Nelson’s Jesse Cooper Friday at the NDCC Arena.
The second period goal was all the Kootenay netminder would need as the Castlegar goalie backstopped the home side to the win.
The joy was shortlived as league leading Fraser Valley Phantom beat Kootenay 4-1 Saturday.
The Phantom scored in each period to register the win.
Stephane McAuley of Trail scored the only goal for Kootenay.
Sunday, Kootenay continued to struggle scoring goals as West Coast Avalanche scored a 3-0 win.
The Avs scored once in the second and twice in the third to secure the win.
Kootenay was able to rally during game four against Thompson-Okanagan Rockets, pulling out a 3-3 tie.
A goal by Keegan Paterson of Nelson secured the single point for Kootenay.
Kimberley Huisman of Fernie and Paige Chapdelaine of Cranbrook also scored for the Cats.
Morgan Flynn of Castlegar and Natasha Singer of Kimberley shared the netminding duties for Kootenay.
The three points keep Kootenay, 5-12-3, six behind fourth place Northern Cougars in league standings.
Fraser Valley holds a 10-point advantage over second place West Coast Avalanche.
