Nelson Police arrest man for uttering threats at local bar staff
An intoxicated man spent the night in police cells after threatening staff at a local drinking establishment late Saturday (January 10) evening.
Nelson Police were called to a bar at the 400 Block of Vernon Street to a report of a patron threatening staff.
The 36-year-old man was asked by staff to leave the business.
However, the man responded uttering threats to “kill” them said NPD in a media release.
The man, who is known to police for engaging in this type of behaviour after abusing alcohol, was arrested without incident and held until sober.
The man is scheduled to answer to charges of uttering threats and public intoxication.
Street hugger advised to stop hugging solicitation
Friday (January 9) Nelson Police received numerous calls from the public of a man aggressively soliciting hugs from people near the businesses in the 100 Block Anderson Street.
However, before police arrived the male and was not identified at the time.
Later Friday, police received a call that a man tossed his roommate’s belongings onto the outside lawn after being told the roommate was moving out.
Officers monitored the situation while the property was gathered.
It was at this time police discovered the angry roommate, a 34-year-old local man, who was under the influence of alcohol, was the same person soliciting hugs earlier in the day.
No charges are pending but he was advised that he would be arrested for public intoxications if he left his home again in that condition.
