Heatwave breaks records in 38 locations in BC — Warfield tops 40.6 mark

More like a scorcher.
As predicted records fell as faster than sweat off eyebrows as mid to upper flows from the United States made for a June heatwave.
New records were registered in 38 different B.C. locations across the province.
Unofficial temperatures had Warfield topping the record-breakers, with a temperature of 40.6, eclipsing the previous mark of 36 set in 2006.
Osoyoos was 40.4, almost four degrees warmer than the previous record of 36.9 set in 2006.
Castlegar set a new mark of 39.2, almost a degree warmer than the previous record set in 1925.
Grand Forks was also warmer at 39.9, overcoming the previous mark of 38.3 set in 1925.
Nelson came in at 37.6 — old mark 33.6 set in 2006.
Nakusp 35.3 — old 34.1 set in 1992.
Creston 37.8 — old 36.7 set in 1925.
According to Environment Canada website, Sunday could be even warmer with temperatures topping the 40 C mark.
However, there is a risk of thunderstorm this afternoon and into the evening.
