RCMP, Nelson SARS conduct search for missing Blewett man

Nelson RCMP and Nelson Search and Rescue conducted a ground search of the area around the residence on Blewett Road and the Kootenay Canal/Rover Creek area Saturday evening. 

 

Nelson RCMP said to date no signs of Joe Moyer, age 42, have been located. 

 

Friends and family advised they will be conducting their own searches this morning, with Nelson Search and Rescue regrouping Sunday afternoon. 

Family is very concerned as Moyer has not been eating regularly and his condition when last seen was described as weak.
 
Police ask for assistance finding missing Nelson man

On June 13, at 5 a.m., Joe Moyer, age 42, walked away from his family home in the 4000 block of Blewett Rd, near Nelson.

 

Moyer was alone and in the company of his back lab dog and was believed to be heading west towards the Kootenay Canal.

 

Moyer is described as 185 cm (6’1) 104 kg (230lbs), with long, grey curly hair, unshaven, wearing grey pants, a black winter type jacket and not wearing any shoes.

 

The family became concerned when he had not returned later in the morning and called police for assistance just before noon.

 

Police are asking for the public’s assistance as there are believed to be some mental health issues that require medical attention. 

 

If you see, or have seen this individual please call 911.

 

Please do not approach this person as it is reported his dog can be defensive on behalf of the owner.
