Woman locked in bathroom of local business facing Mischief charges
A 39-year-old woman is facing charges of Mischief under $5000 after Nelson Police responded to a call of a person locked inside a bathroom of a local business.
The call came in Friday (May 29) at 7 p.m. from a local business. Staff said a female entered the bathroom and was refusing to leave after almost an hour.
Nelson Police arrived to find female inside the bathroom refusing to open the door.
Police, using a spare key, opened the door to find the woman ingesting and injecting drugs inside the bathroom.
At the time of entry the distraught female police found the woman holding a loaded syringe in her hand. The woman refused to release the loaded syringe.
After repeated requests to drop the needle were ignored, members managed to remove the loaded syringe safely, before taking the woman into custody.
The woman was treated at Kootenay Lake Hospital and given a psychological assessment.
Police are recommending charges of Mischief under $5000 and the accused is scheduled to attend Nelson Provincial Court on (Tuesday) July 14, 2015.
