The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary structural protection crews have been supplemented with additional resources from our resource partners in the Regional District of Central Kootenay and the Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue.

Fourteen firefighters brought four fire engines and two tenders to the Christina Lake staging area.

The extra personnel and equipment will be added to the local resources in order to strengthen the structural protection response crews already in place if the Stickpin fire situation worsens. Staging these additional resources in place before any escalation of response allows crews to familiarize themselves with the area and allows more time for situational awareness and safety planning.

The extra crews and equipment will be joined together to create task force teams consisting of two engines and one tender. These task forces will be placed in strategic locations in response to changes in the behaviour of the Stickpin Fire.Communities from the Regional District of Central Kootenay contributing firefighters and equipment include:

-The City of Castlegar

-The Town of Creston

-The Village of Kaslo

-The community of Pass Creek

-Kootenay Boundary RegionalFire Rescue

-Warfield and Trail Halls

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary expresses deep thanks to our fire service partners. Sharing crews and equipment significantly increases the strength of emergency response programs.
