Just another amazing Road Kings Queen’s City Cruise weekend
There’s definitely someone in the weather center that likes the Nelson Road Kings Queen City Cruise weekend.
Why else would blue skies appear during the weekend of the annual car show.
Once again the weather was perfect, entrants filled the streets and car lovers filled the streets for the annual car show.
” We had just over 400 cars on the streets of downtown Nelson,” said Jack Chambers, chair of the Road Kings executive.
“Of those 388 were registered in the show with about 17 that were not registered.”
Cars from California to Alberta and Washington to Arizona joined local BC owners in the annual event.
The weekend kicked off the with the parade through downtown Nelson.
Saturday was the Show’ N Shine before everyone took to the top of the Nelson Parkade for the rooftop dance.
Some of the trophy winners included:
- BEST IN SHOW – Ron & Darlene Demaniuk from Cranbrook, B.C. with their 1950 Mercury.
- FURTHEST AWAY – Bob Gage from Yuma, Arizona in his 1955 Ford Station Wagon.
- HARD LUCK TROPHY – Brad Shirley from Salmon Arm, B.C. in his 1946 M.C.I. Greyhound bus.
Chambers said there was an emotional moment during the award ceremony.
“One of the winners broke down when her car was announced as a winner,” Chambers explained.
“She explained that the car was built in memory of her son who passed away a few years ago.”
