West Kootenay Toy Run right around the corner
In less than two weeks motorcycle riders from throughout the region will be hopping on the bikes to participate in the 28th Annual West Kootenay Toy Run.
On Sunday, September 13, riders will enjoy another fabulous day riding the Kootenay loop with friends,meeting new ones, collecting toys for the Areas Food Banks.
The ride is followed by live music and the draw for the 2015 Harley Davidson Road Glide Special.
First held in 1988 with 15 local riders, the Toy Run now features over 500 participants, with more than $30,000 being raised annually for local food banks, women’s shelters, the Salvation Army, various family support organizations, and high school bursaries, as well as hundreds of toys that are donated to the local Salvation Army organizations for their Christmas hampers.
This year the Toy Run begins at 8 a.m. in Castlegar with registration.
At 10 a.m., the ride moves onto Nelson to collect toys at Hipperson’s Hardware on 300 Block of Baker Street at approximately 10:45. Nelson registration is a 9:30 a.m.
At noon the ride meets in Salmo for lunch before heading onto Fruitvale and a stop in downtown Trail in front of Ferraro Foods.
The Toy Run then travels to Rossland before concluding at 3:30 p.m. back in Castlegar at the Rec Complex for awards, great music and dinner and refreshments and the draw for the 2015 Harley Davidson Road Glide Special.
However, to organize an major event like the West Kootenay Toy Run, volunteers are needed to make the day run smooth.

The West Kootenay Toy Run is also seeking a public relations person to bring you info about the Toy Run throughout the year and Area Reps for Nelson, Salmo, Trail, Rossland and a little love for up the Valley.
