Kootenay Ice foiled again at home, Vancouver North East sweep pair
The Kootenay Ice can play with any team in the BC Major Midget Hockey League.
The Kootenay squad, however, just can’t do it for 60 minutes.
For the second consecutive weekend the Ice stayed with one of the league’s heavyweights before dropping a pair of BCMMHL games this past weekend at the NDCC Arena.
Vancouver North East won 4-1 Saturday before outlasting the Ice 6-2 Sunday.
Harris Pearce did the damage during game one, scoring a pair of goals for Vancouver.
Sunday six different goal scorers turned the red light on as the Chiefs ran away with the game.
Ice import Grayson Valente of Vancouver scored the lone goal Saturday while Ben Woodward of Nelson and Hunter Floris of Vanderhoof recorded Kootenay’s goals Sunday.
Ben Kelsch and Curt Doyle, both from Nelson shared the netminding duties for Kootenay.
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey.
These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
The Ice, 2-17-1, returns to action in Langley Saturday against the Valley West Hawks.
Next home game is December 19 at the NDCC Arena against the Thompson Blazers.
