UPDATED: Wildcats fall to consolation round at High School A Girl's Volleyball Championships

The Mount Sentinel Wildcats came close, but just couldn’t get the key points at the right time in dropping a 3-1 decision to White Rock Christian Academy in quarter final action Friday at the at the BC High School A Girl’s Volleyball Championships at Selkirk College in Castlegar.

White Rock, advancing to Saturday’s semi final against top seed Immaculata of Kelowna, won the match 25-22, 20-25, 25-23, 25-23 to advance down the playoff trail.

Mount Sentinel drops to consolation round play, meeting Kelowna Christian today at 12:30 p.m. at Selkirk College.

The Wildcats opened the day blasting Barriere 25-10, 25-16, 25-12.

The Bronze Medal match is set for 5:30 p.m. Saturday to be followed by the Gold Medal Championship game at 7 p.m.

Closing ceremonies and medal presenations follows the Championship Match.

All action is set for Selkirk College Gymnasium in Castlegar.

Wildcats claw way up playoff ladder at BC High School A Girl’s Volleyball Championships

The Mount Sentinel Wildcats played anything like an eight-seeded team, finishing second in Pool B Thursday at the BC High School A Girl’s Volleyball Championships at Selkirk College in Castlegar.

The Wildcats opened with a straight set (25-14, 25-14) win over Kelowna Christian before knocking off Kootenay Champion Fernie, also in straight sets (25-18, 25-17.

The only blemish on the day came against Duncan Christian, where the the Cats dropped a 2-1 best-of-three match — the third game losing 15-13.

Other results had top-ranked and defending champion Immaculata winning Pool A, Carver Christian of Burnaby taking Pool C and Credo Christian of Langley topping Pool D.

Mount Sentinel now begins the playoff run Friday at Selkirk, taking on Barrier.

Playoffs continue Friday with the final rounds Saturday.
