The City of Trail Parks and Recreation Department will welcome Dave Loverock, the Vice President of Jet Ice Limited, to Trail as a guest instructor for the Recreation Facilities Association of British Columbia (RFABC) Arena Ice Maker Course taking place on July 25 and 26 in the Trail Memorial Centre. Dave Loverock brings vast experience to the ice making industry with many years spent perfecting the ice for the New York Rangers.

“This is a very rare opportunity to learn from one of the true masters that have shaped the ice-making industry,” said Robert Baker, the Deputy Director of Trail Parks and Recreation. “In addition to installing ice for the NHL, Mr. Loverock continues to advance the ice paint industry by developing the latest technologies that are being used by ice makers across the globe for the highest levels of curling, hockey, figure skating, and speed skating. We are excited to meet Dave and we are eager to learn the latest tricks of the trade.”

All arena staff at the Trail Memorial Centre will be attending the two-day course and can expect to learn personalized instruction and hands-on training for high quality ice installation. Arena equipment, arena board system, construction, and preventive maintenance are also on the agenda.

“There is room for 25 people in the session and we expect it to sell out,” said Baker. “The course has been promoted across the Okanagan and the Kootenays and right now we are near capacity. Anyone interested, who has the prerequisite of the Refrigeration Safety Awareness, Ice Facility Operator, or Refrigeration Operation course, should register now through the RFABC at www.rfabc.com.”
