Trail RCMP are reporting two alcohol-involved infractions, and also one odd case of a motorist bringing attention to his own misdeed after the fact, according to RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicenotwich.

“On June 5, at 7:22 p.m., the Trail and Greater District Detachment RCMP launched an investigation after a local resident posted a video online of himself allegedly driving his vehicle at speeds in excess of 180 km/hr. The 18-year-old Trail man was issued a $483 violation ticket for Excessive Speed contrary to Section 148 (1) of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.”

Meanwhile, two men – one from Rossland and one from Castlegar – failed roadside tests and had their vehicles impounded for a month while losing their licences for 90 days.

“On June 4, at 9:41 p.m., the Trail and Greater District Detachment conducted an impaired driving investigation on Hwy 22, near Trail. The driver, a 44-year-old Castlegar man, failed a roadside screening device breath test administered by an RCMP officer and was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and had his vehicle impounded for 30 days.

“On June 5, at 3:17 a.m., the Trail and Greater District Detachment RCMP conducted an investigation into a 22-year-old Rossland man, for having care and control of a vehicle while allegedly impaired by alcohol. The male allegedly failed a roadside screening device breath test administered by an RCMP officer. He was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and had his vehicle impounded for 30 days.”
