A mix of musical magic closes out Music in the Park for this year

Join the Trail & District Arts Council and Trail’s Incredible Farmers Market on August 13 for an entertaining evening of food vendors, market, and live music for The Night Market, supported by Kootenay Insurance Services’. From 5 pm to 8:30 pm there’s lots to do in Gyro Park for our last event of the summer season.
Headliners, The Tim Sars Quartet, is a horn heavy quartet that fuses together New Orleans street beat, Latin jazz, and funk. Tim has been leading the Carnival band and playing baritone, alto, and tenor saxophone with many groups around Vancouver for the past 20 years.
Rooted in family and driven by rhythm, this jazz quartet brings a vibrant, cross-genre sound to every stage they play. At its core is the dynamic musical bond of brothers Tim Sars on saxophone and Nathan Barrett on trumpet, whose shared instincts and improvisational chemistry give the group its distinctive voice. Rounding out the quartet are drums and bass, laying down grooves that move fluidly between swing, soul, and global influences.
Blending jazz with blues, world beat, and brass band traditions, their music feels both timeless and fresh. The group shifts effortlessly from smoky, late-night melodies to high-energy, street-style rhythms inspired by folk and second-line brass bands. Original compositions—written and often sung by Tim Sars—form the heart of their repertoire, weaving personal storytelling with rich, layered arrangements.
Whether performing intimate sets or lively festival stages, the quartet thrives on connection: between bandmates, genres, and audiences. Their performances celebrate improvisation, cultural fusion, and the deep musical language they’ve built together over years of playing side by side.
We are also excited to have Aaron Pasacreta, a Kootenay-based musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, performing. With his 6-piece band, he plays folk-pop alternative sound that blends traditional storytelling with modern influences.
Plus, Ribin Koshy and friends will open the night at 5 pm playing keys, guitar, cajón and tabla.

It wasn’t without its challenges; we faced extreme heat and smoky days, but we didn’t let any of that stop us.

Organized by Trail & District Arts Council, in partnership with Trail’s incrEDIBLE Farmer’s Market, The Night Market will also feature a range of artisans and other vendors at the market, as well as tasty cooling treats and delicious eats by our food vendors.
So, bring a lawn chair, plenty of water and your dancing shoes!
Admission is by $5 suggested donation per person at Gyro Park.
