“We’re working to safely restore natural gas service to around 580 customers in Trail. Our crews are working safely to restore natural gas service to approximately 580 customers in Trail, following third-party damage to our natural gas system.
“Our crews are currently on site working on repairs. Once we complete repairs and reactivate the impacted portion of the system, our crews will restore service by visiting each affected home or business to turn natural gas back on at the meter and relight all affected appliances.
“At this time, we do not have an estimate on when we will be able to restore natural gas service. We will continue to provide updates when new information is available.
“We would like to remind everyone that if you smell rotten eggs or hear the sound of escaping natural gas, stop what you’re doing, go outside and dial 9-1-1 or call FortisBC’s 24-hour emergency line. More information on natural gas safety is available at fortisbc.com.
“If no one is home when our crews attend to relight affected appliances, FortisBC service crews will leave a tag on your door that provides information on relighting appliances. You can also contact the emergency number at 1-877-711-8877 to arrange for FortisBC to restore your service.
“We would like to thank those affected for their patience and support in our efforts to restore service for our customers. Local residents with questions can contact us at 1-877-711-8877.”
