Motorcyclist killed in accident on Highway 3A/6 west of Nelson

RCMP said a 63-year-old man died Monday afternoon as a result of a traffic accident near Bonnington Road west of Nelson.

RCMP said the fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a SUV happened at approximately 1 p.m. Monday, September 18th.

“Initial investigation determined that the motorcyclist struck an SUV which was stopped in the passing lane, attempting to make a left hand turn off the highway,” RCMP said in a media release.

“It appears as though the motorcyclist was not able to stop in time to avoid the collision.”

“Unfortunately, the driver of the motorcycle, a 63-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” RCMP added.

Emergency crews, Nelson rural RCMP along with BC Highway Patrol responded to the accident on Highway 3A/6, at Bonnington Rd, approximately 17 kilometers west of Nelson.

Nelson Rural RCMP along with BC Highway Patrol have conduct of this investigation.

RCMP is asking anyone who may have information, including motorists who may have witnessed this collision or have dash cam video are asked to contact Nelson detachment at 250-352-2156.
