Youth Programs at the Rossland Museum

Programming Overview:

Fall programming at the museum is on the go! Our youth programming here at the museum is guaranteed to not only be educational but also a whole lot of fun! Seriously, you won’t want to miss all of the exciting new things we’ve been cooking up for our programs AND the Discovery Zone.

  • Cub Club will be starting at a *new time*! You can now bring your little ones over to the museum to enjoy this program on Tuesdays from 10-11 am.
  • Young Naturalists will continue on Tuesdays from 3-5 p.m.
  • On Thursdays, we’ve got our crowd favourite: Rockhounds! This geology-themed program also runs from 3-5 pm.
  • Last, but certainly not least, STEAM Saturdays can always be counted on each Saturday from 1-3 pm.

Cub Club:
Ages: 2.5-5
Cost: $7/session for Members; $8/session for Non-Members
Dates: Weekly Tuesday mornings, running this season from October 24th until December 12th
Time: 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Details: This program is specifically crafted for little kids to have fun engaging in hands-on experiments, artistic crafts, movement, and stories! This program is for ages 2.5-5 (guardians/helpers required).

YOUNG NATURALISTS:
Ages: 6-12
Cost: $14/session for Members; $16/session for Non-Members OR
Punch passes (10x) are also available – $126 for members; $144 for non-members.
Dates: Weekly Tuesday after school, running this season from October 24th to December 12th.
Time: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Details: Young Naturalists is a nature-based program tailored to life in our Kootenay Community. Participants will enjoy the natural world while developing skills and knowledge to become the next generation of stewards of our natural home by learning to understand our relationship with the world around us.

Rockhounds:
Ages: 6-12
Cost: $14/session for Members; $16/session for Non-Members OR

Dates: Weekly Thursday after school, running this season from October 19th to December 14th.
Time: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Details: Our “Rockhounds” will explore the wonders of the mineral world and develop a deep appreciation for the riches beneath their feet. We’ll learn about geology and develop the skills, experiences, and curiosity to enjoy and understand mysterious minerals and the not-so-regular rocks all around us.

S.T.E.A.M.:
Ages: All ages!
CostFREE for Members; included with Admission for Non-Members
Dates: Every Saturday afternoon, excluding Museum events. Running this season from October 21st to December 16th.
Time: 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Details: S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics, and that – plus a whole lot of fun – is exactly what our S.T.E.A.M. Saturdays are all about. Combining aspects from each discipline, participants will find themselves creating something crafty and engaging with real-life connections to concepts and ideas that can feel a bit stale when communicated in the same old ways.
