On Thursday, Sept. 19, Teck Trail Operations will be staging an emergency response exercise. This exercise is a training opportunity for Teck and our mutual aid partners.

The exercise will take place at Teck Trail Operations between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m.  During this time, there will be an increase in emergency response vehicles in the area which may be visible from Hwy 22 adjacent to the site.

The mock exercise will involve many community and mutual aid partners including the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary Emergency Program partners, Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, RCMP, and Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. The exercise is being coordinated with the assistance of a consulting firm specializing in crisis management.

Safety is a core value at Teck Trail Operations. As such, we continually work to minimize or eliminate the possibility of safety incidents. This is done through plant engineering and design, risk assessment and mitigation, training and standard operating procedures. This exercise is an opportunity to continually enhance our mutual preparedness in partnership with our community and mutual aid partners.
