Castlegar Officer Cadet Jacquelyn Davis sworn in
Officer Cadet Jacquelyn Davis, 581 Castlegar Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron’s newest officer was sworn into the Canadian Armed Forces on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025. The squadron now boasts a full complement of staff, and over 30 cadets – numbers not seen since prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Davis has been volunteering with the Castlegar Air Cadet squadron since September 2023. Having
previously been an Air Cadet, and an officer in Alberta, she released from the program to raise her two
children. After she and her family re-located to British Columbia, she decided to re-join the CAF and
continue her passion of working with youth.
When asked why she decided to return to the program, Davis responded, “It’s such a fun and inclusive
program. There is something for everyone, and I really enjoy watching the cadets learn and grow as
people.”
All of the cadet units in the Kootenays accept new cadets at any time between September and June.
Youth between the ages of 12 and 18 can register online at https://registration.cadets.gc.ca/get-
started.html More information can be found at cadets.ca Adults who would like to volunteer with a unit or the local support group are also welcome.
