Three arrested after Castlegar RCMP execute search warrant
Three Castlegar individuals have been arrested after a search, according to Castlegar RCMP Sgt. Monty Taylor.
Taylor said that on April 4, the Castlegar RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with support from general duty officers and police dog services, executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 1300 block of Columbia Avenue in Castlegar.
“The search warrant was obtained to further investigate the trafficking of drugs,” Taylor said. Upon execution of the search warrant three occupants were located on the property who were taken into police custody without incident.”
He said investigators seized a quantity of drugs believed to be fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine along with Canadian Currency and other items consistent with the trafficking of illicit drugs. In addition, police located property that had recently been stolen from a Castlegar business.
“The 47-year-old male, 46-year-old male, and 31-year-old female were later released from police custody,” Taylor added. “Castlegar RCMP are continuing their investigation into possession of a controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, along with the possession of stolen property Criminal Code offences.”
The matter will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Services of Canada for full charge assessment.
