Castlegar RCMP to take part in plunge for Special Olympics
On March 8, 2026, members of the public, local athletes and RCMP officers in Castlegar will brave the frigid waters of the Columbia River at Millennium Park to support Special Olympics BC.
The Polar Plunge will take place from 12 to 1 p.m. All community members are invited to participate or donate to raise funds for this extraordinary cause.
The goal for this year’s event is to raise $3,000, with participation already confirmed from Castlegar Search and Rescue, BC Ambulance and local fire departments.
All the funds raised will stay within the community to directly support Special Olympics BC. The SOBC is an organization dedicated to providing individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to stay active, build relationships, and foster community connections.
Community members can register for the plunge or donate. Anyone not participating is encouraged to come out and watch.
Participating in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics BC is an easy and fun way to make a difference by changing lives through the power of sport and opening hearts and minds to the abilities of people with intellectual disabilities.
