Police seek witnesses after young woman assaulted on 6 Avenue

Castlegar RCMP are investigating an assault that occurred on 6 Avenue on June 1, 2026, at approximately 4:07 p.m., according to Castlegar RCMP Sgt. Monty Taylor.
Taylor said police received a report that a young woman was outside a residence loading items into a vehicle when she was approached by a group of youths. He said the group began yelling at the victim before two individuals allegedly attacked her while others stood nearby.
“A witness intervened and was able to separate the attackers, at which point the suspects fled the area,” Taylor said.
“Officers conducted patrols in the area and located one suspect nearby, who was arrested for assault. The investigation remains ongoing and we are requesting any witnesses to come forward.”
