RCMP: Another seizure of dynamite at a grow op in Boundary

The Boundary is now the dynamite capital of Southern B.C. as local RCMP, looking for a grow op, came across the second house in a week loaded with firearms and explosives.
On Sunday Aug. 22, the Grand Forks RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Dupee Road, outside of Christina Lake. Police located 113 plants, inside of the residence and 115 plants were located in a treed area outside near the residence. RCMP also found four firearms in the house, two of which were loaded, along with four sticks of dynamite.
The E Division Explosive Disposal Unit based in Vancouver was called to attend the residence, where they safely destroyed the dynamite at the scene.
Charges have been laid against one male, Jason Wood, 33, of Christina Lake, for unlawful possession of explosives, production of a controlled substance, along with trafficking, unlawful possession of firearms, and unsafe storage of firearms.
Wood had his first court appearance on Monday, Aug. 23.
“This incident marks the second time in a week that we run across unlawfully possessed explosives in the Kootenay area. We will look at determining its origins and how these individuals came to possess it. This is not a common occurrence and is alarming, to say the least. These individuals have no concern or thoughfullness at all about the risk and danger that they put the general public in or to first responders,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.
