A 39-year-old man has been arrested in the recent rash of counterfeit fraud. Leonnard Furman of Greenwood, was arrested today by officers with the Grand Forks detachment of the RCMP for uttering counterfeit currency.

Furman has been charged with 12 counts of using counterfeit US $50 bills. Two charges stem from incidents in Castlegar, one charge from Greenwood, and nine charges from Grand Forks.

Grand Forks Staff Sargaent Jim Harrison said that Fruman has also been charged with obstruction of a peace officer on an unrelated event from Dec. 7 where he provided a false name to police who later determined he was wanted on a warrant for arrest from Burnaby, B.C.
