More snow is expected tonight and through to Thursday morning while Environment Canada continues to have a snowfall warning in effect for the West Kootenay region.

Snow is expected to accumulate up to five centimetres today, with up to 10 cm. coming down overnight — in addition to the 15 cm. that fell last night.

The heavy snow was due to a frontal system moving into the West Kootenay, with another frontal system bringing more snow to the region overnight and Thursday morning.

The snow will taper off overnight and turn to rain on Thursday afternoon, with up to 10 millimetres of rain predicted to douse the Nelson region.

That rain will continue through to Tuesday, with some wet snow thrown in for good measure,
