RCMP and Rooney family reach out once more for help to find missing man, Owen

Australian native, Owen Kiernan Rooney, disappeared six months ago today but his family and police are not giving up hope. We are once again asking for the public’s help in locating Owen. Efforts to date have garnered many tips, however, all plausible leads have now been exhausted.
Owen was last seen at the Grand Forks Hospital on Aug. 14, 2010 at approximately 8:00 p.m., sitting just outside the hospital on a picnic table. Owen left the hospital alone leaving behind all his belongings and has not been seen since.
Owen is 5’9″ (175 cm) in height and is 161 lbs or 73 kg. He has blue eyes, short brown hair and has two tattoos, one is on his left shoulder blade about three inches across of a circle with a Celtic star around it. The other tattoo is on his right calf, a logo of a triangle with a kangaroo inside and the words “Australian Made” underneath. This calf tattoo is about the size of the bottom of a coffee mug.
The Rooney family has been in British Columbia for the past six months since Owen disappeared and have tirelessly campaigned for leads including setting up a website (www.find-owen.com) and a Facebook page (Help Find Owen Rooney). The Rooneys will soon have to head back to Australia, still with the ultimate goal of locating Owen prior to their departure.
Owen’s mother, Sharron Rooney, would like to thank all the communities in BC and Alberta where they have passed through in search of their son. She says, “the support from Canadians in BC and Alberta has been overwhelming and very much appreciated, people have been posting photos and posters for us and sharing it on social media as well. We would like to encourage everyone to go to our website to obtain Owen’s photo to post on bulletin boards in public locations or online.”
