Meteor that lit up Kootenay sky may have landed east of Nelson

A meteor that has caused a stir in the Kootenay region and into the U.S. could have landed in the area of Kootenay Lake, east of Nelson.
The Cranbrook Daily Townsman reported the meteor was caught Saturday morning caught by a video camera located on the roof of the College of the Rockies.

According to the Townsman, the fireball was seen east in Cochrane, down in the U.S. in Coeur d’Alene and Spokane, and in Nelson and as far east as Kamloops.
The meteor appeared to be as big as the moon, as a “greenish blue orb.”
No damage due to the meteor landing has been reported in the area.
