Advocacy Centre extends its reach with new venture

The helping hand of the Advocacy Centre is now available online.
The Advocacy Centre has always offered many handouts and guidebooks for anyone able to stop by the office in downtown Nelson.
Now, many of those resources are available online at the Centre’s newly designed website, making the Advocacy Centre’s services more accessible to anyone outside of Nelson seeking guidance.
The updated website contains a “links and resources” page where visitors can view handouts like the Advocacy Centre’s Guide to Trouble-Free Renting, or Nelson on a Shoestring.
There are also information kits and sample forms for provincial disability applications, all of which visitors can save and print off from any computer.
The site also features a large selection of helpful links to legal aid websites, online financial aid resources, and a variety of family law websites.
The Advocacy Centre is a non-profit, community-based organization that offers legal information, education and problem-solving for low-income residents of the Central Kootenays.
The Centre also has a Specialized Victim Services department that assists people coping with relationship abuse, sexual assault and child abuse.
The Centre provides advocacy to individuals, and occasionally offers workshops and presentations on legal issues.
