Castlegarians jailed for attempted murder/ assault

Two local residents are now in jail after two separate incidents, according to Castlegar RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew.
“Robyn Mackay, age 51, who was charged with the attempted murder of her father in August 2010, in Castlegar, has pled guilty and received a jail sentence of six years,” Mathew said, adding that 31-year-old Joshua Street was sentenced to 90 days for a totally unrelated matter.
“Street was found guilty of assault with intent to resist arrest and refusing to provide a breath sample. (30 days in jail) “This incident stemmed from a motor vehicle accident in which Street was driving, left the road and ended up in the ditch. During the course of his arrest, he assaulted one of the police officers and, once in the police vehicle, he damaged the door by kicking it numerous times. When provided the opportunity to provide a breath sample, Street refused. “He was also found guilty of several counts of Breach of Recognizance ( not obeying court conditions while out in the community), and was sentenced to 30 days. “He also pled guilty to theft from the liquor store from an incident in November 2010, and was sentenced to 30 days.”
