Former Slocan Valley Mountie charged with second degree murder

A former New Denver Mountie has been charged with the second-degree murder of his common-law wife.
Keith Gregory Wiens, who worked in the New Denver detachment of the RCMP, was arrested Tuesday after police were called to a home in a gated adult community.
Wiens was charged after the Aug. 16 shooting death of his 55-year-old wife at their Pentiction home.
Penticton RCMP are continuing the investigation and have not released the victim’s name. An autopsy was conducted in Penticton Wednesday.
