Knife wielding woman breaks into home, escapes police

A knife-wielding woman broke into a Victoria Street home Friday night and threatened the home’s two occupants.

The woman allegedly entered the home, smashed a bottle and threatened the two people with a knife.

Although one of the people was able to call the police, when they arrived the woman had fled and they were no able to locate her.

Stopping for a pedestrian came with a heavy price for an Alberta woman who was visiting Nelson last week.

The woman had stopped for a pedestrian on the 100 block of Anderson Street when she was rear ended by car driven by a 29-year-old Crescent Valley resident.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the collision, but the woman, her 11-year-old son and the Crescent Valley driver all escaped with minor injuries.

The Crescent Valley resident was charged with following too close.

A collision between a car and a Nelson restaurant’s deck on the weekend left no one injured but a wake of damages nearing $2,500.

After a Nelson resident parked their car in front of the restaurant on Kootenay Street, the unattended car began to roll on the steep street, striking the outside deck of Leo’s Pizza.

The car continued to roll into the alley where it came to a stop.

Erratic driving landed a 28-year-old Slocan woman in jail last week after police pulled her over.

Due to her extreme intoxication the woman was issued a 90-day IRP suspension. Her vehicle was towed and she spent time in a cell until she sobered up.
