POLICE: Three injured in rollover near Christina Lake

Three Kootenay residents are injured and remain in hospital after losing control of their truck on Highway #3 east of Christina Lake yesterday.
A 65-year-old Robson man was transported directly to the West Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail. The 50-year-old woman and 48-year-old man, both from Castlegar, were transported by ambulance to the Boundary Hospital and then airlifted to Kelowna for treatment.
RCMP were notified about the accident 15 kilometres east of Christina Lake at about 9:00 a.m., explained Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison of the Boundary Regional detachment. When they arrived on the scene the Christina Lake Fire Department had already responded and were assisting the three people in their black GMC Jimmy.
The truck completely flipped onto it’s roof and the boat being towed behind had torn free from the vehicle. The boat and trailer continued down the road before the boat fell off and slid to a halt.
Two dogs were also in the truck, one died as a result of it’s injuries and the other is at a Grand Forks veterinarian receiving care.
“All three persons involved have injuries of unknown severity at this point,” said Harrison. “Icy road conditions and driver error are believed to be contributing factors in the collision.”
Harrison added that drivers should remember winter road condidtions are now in effect especially at higher altitudes and to drive with caution.
