Demons, bears and hubcaps keep NPD busy

Demons, bears and hubcaps are just a few of the calls Nelson Police Department received during the past few days.
A Father at a local church contacted NPD in need of help after an agitated man entered the place of worship.
When officers arrived they found the male convulsing on the floor, claiming to be possessed by demons and requesting the Father to pray for him.
Police assisted the Father as he blessed the man’s residence.
Police warn public against taking matters in their own hands
Police are advising Nelson residents to call Nelson Police Department for assistance before making rash decision.
The warning comes after a Nelson man chased a thief that ran off with a hubcap from his son’s vehicle.
The thief was eventually caught, the hubcap returned the irate father and NPD contacted regarding the incident.
The owner of the vehicle told police that his son and his date were dining in Nelson.
Shortly thereafter, the young thief contacted the police officer and offered an apology.
While NPD would like to thank the quick acting father, they would also like to remind the citizens that taking matters into you own hands come with the associated risks.
Police suggest it may be safer to observe and report than confront.
Man known to police investigate for stealing
During regular patrols, officers noticed a man in breach of previous conditions not to enter the downtown core
The man was arrested.
During the arrest, a search of the man’s backpack revealed a MP3 player and speaker, drugs and numerous packages of meat from a local grocery store.
The man is currently being investigated for possession of stolen property, theft, possession of drugs, and breaching his conditions. The male is also on probation and facing numerous similar charges.
Tuesday night NPD had to deal with a bear that was eating garbage in the Fairview area.
