Gardeners and nature lovers from around the region will want to mark May 18 on their calendars for Castlegar’s Fourth Annual Garden and Nature Fest.

The Castlegar Garden Club and Castlegar Communities in Bloom are partnering to sponsor this open-air festival at the Castlegar Community Complex (2101 6th Ave) from 10 a.m. To 3 p.m.

This is a new venue for the festival, due to ongoing improvements at Millennium Park, but it promises to be every bit as special as the previous three festivals.

Description: nknown ObjectThe prime focus is the abundance of local gardening talent and nature resources. Plants and gardens (wild and cultivated) will be featured, as well as farming, food production, organic growing, sustainable living, invasive plants composting, hikes and trails in the area, local conservation areas: anything to do with nature and the environment.

We hope to encourage a wider worldview of your garden!

Although filling up quickly, we are still looking for vendors for this event. In past years we have had 30-plus vendors and booths, and we are always trying to expand.

Do you or someone you know have a nature hobby, grow their own seedlings or offer a unique type of plant?

Do you belong to a nonprofit or educational group that would benefit from attending this festival?

We are happy to have you join us: the cost to vendors for a booth is $30 and for nonprofits the space is provided free.

Vendors will be offering rockery and dwarf conifers, wonderful roses, colourful shrubs, and bountiful baskets. Check out the large selection of garden-ready veggie starts and locally grown, organic perennials, wonderful home grown products, metal art, concrete stepping stones and birdbaths, handmade soap.

Great food will be on offer again this year, in addition to some local musical talent! You can enjoy what our festival has to offer: plants and garden art, information booths showcasing local community organizations, and an ideal environment to sit, relax and enjoy the day.

Admission is free.
