UPDATED: Crews remove rock slide near Lardeau

The slide that halted traffic in both directions on Highway 31 two kilometers north of Lardeau has been removed.
However, a few divots still remain in the pavement as the Thursday morning slide dropped a few major nuggets of granite onto the road at around 1 a.m..
The slide, measuring a 200-metre wide are, impacted residents in the Meadow Creek, Johnsons Landing and Argenta.
The highway was closed in both directions while a geotechnical assessment was conducted Thursday.
Following that assessment, crews began clearing debris.
Hugh Eberle, District Operations Manager for the Ministry of Transportation in Nelson said workers opened the road during the weekend with additional pavement and roadwork anticipated to occur later this spring/early summer.
The highway was opened at around 2 p.m. Thursday to single lane traffic.
DriveBC did report muddy sections from Gerrard Bridge to Junction with Highway 23.
Highway 31 re-opened to single lane traffic
Drive BC reports Highway 31 10 kilometers south of Meadow Creek has been re-opened to single alternating traffic following a rock slide early Thursday.
According to Hugh Eberle, District Operations Manager for the Ministry of Transportation in Nelson, the slide happened about 1 a.m. Thursday.
No one was hurt in the slide but power was knocked out to residents of Meadow Creek.
Drive BC reports an aerial assessment of the slide area has been completed.
BC Hydro hopes to have power restored Friday afternoon.
