Portion of Highway 6 near Slocan makes BCAA's Worst Road top ten
Highway 6 from Slocan City to Vernon checked in at No. 5 on the 2013 Top-10 BCAA (British Columbia Automobile Association) Worst Roads survey.
The survey was conducted between April 29 to May 27 allwong motorists, pedestrians and cyclists to participate.
For the second year in a row, Kelowna’s Westside Road earned top spot.
Potholes and crumbling pavement was cited as the main problem for the Slocan City to Vernon stretch of highway.
BC Parkway bike path was third followed by Pacific Rim Highway on Vancouver Island.
The Malahat Island Highway was sixth followed by Indian River Drive in North Vancouver, Sea-to-sky Highway, Harris Road in Vancouver and Todd Road near Kamloops.
The BCAA “Worst Roads” survey defines a ‘worst road’ as any piece of paved infrastructure — including a bridge or tunnel — that is unsafe and contributes to frequent accidents, is often heavily congested, has damaging potholes or needs resurfacing.
Roads that are poorly designed or too narrow for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists to share safely also qualify as a ‘worst road’.
