An accident that held up traffic this morning near Canadian Tire was essentially a minor one, according to Trail RCMP Sgt. Rob Hawton.

“At approximately 10:30 a.m. today, a van travelling eastbound on Highway 3B was in the left turn lane waiting for traffic to clear to turn in to Canadian Tire on Goodwin Way,” Hawton said. “The light changed and the driver started his turn, however was struck by an oncoming westbound sedan that went through the red light.

“Both vehicles suffered extensive damage but the driver of the van received only several scratches,” he said. “The elderly driver of the sedan was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“The driver of the out-of-province van was issued a ticket for no insurance, and the driver of the sedan was issued a ticket for disobeying a red light.”
