RED Mountain Resort has scooped Most Improved North American Resort and Best Upcoming Resort in the World Snow Awards held in London (November 1 2013). RED is the only Canadian resort to feature in the awards, and the only resort to win multiple awards.

The resort’s season opens December 14th 2013 when it will showcase the huge expansion project on Grey Mountain, meaning that, in addition to the ski area’s Red and Granite peaks, skiers can now access one more stellar peak, Grey Mountain by chair lift — with 360-degree skiing off the top!

This development of Grey Mountain marks one of the single largest expansions of an existing resort in North America in four decades. It places RED Mountain Resort firmly in the scale of resorts such as Breckenridge, Colorado or Jackson Hole, Wyoming in terms of skiable acreage. Grey Mountain adds 997 acres to RED bringing the total skiable acres to 2,682.

Destination British Columbia’s manager for UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, Louise Petter, commented: “We are delighted that RED’s continuing improvements have been recognised in these awards.  RED is one of British Columbia’s hidden gems and this season is set to be the most exciting ever at RED.  BC is proud to be the only Canadian destination to receive a prestigious World Snow Award this year, or in the case of RED, to receive two!  We look forward to welcoming more British skiers keen to experience this award winning resort.”

RED Mountain Resort delivers incredible terrain with an 884m (2,919ft) vertical drop that annually features over 750cms (22ft) of snowfall.  The resort boasts a terrain park, easy-to-access backcountry, snowshoeing, friendly locals, fine dining and affordable luxury slope-side lodging.
