Old Man Winter makes one last run at West Kootenay

Back by popular demand . . . Old Man Winter is making another guest appearance in the West Kootenay with an expected 25 centimeters in snow accumulation.
“Snow will continue in force over the next 24 hours with accumulations in the valleys of 20 – 25 centimeters and slightly more over Kootenay Pass and all higher elevations,” said Marc Dale, Southeast Kootenay Operations Manager for Yellowhead Road & Bridge Ltd.
“All roads will be compact and there will be reduced visibility due to blowing snow.”
Environment Canada issued a special weather advisory as a series of weather systems will spread significant amounts of snow to Southern British Columbia into Sunday night.
Highway passes, including the Blueberry Paulson and Kootenay Pass, are forecast to receive 20 to 30 centimeters of snow by Monday morning.
The heavy snow will continue Monday with additional amounts near 10 to 20 centimeters possible by Tuesday morning.
“This intense winter storm will taper off Monday afternoon, temperatures will rise and the snow will change to rain for the remainder of the week,” Dale said.
