UPDATE: Coroners Service releases name of Coal Mountain employee killed in accident Sunday

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a male who died following an industrial accident at the Teck Coal Mountain mine near Sparwood on March 16.
He was Miles Bradley Lorenz, aged 59, of Coleman.
Lorenz was a water truck driver and was filling his truck with water when he was impacted by frozen rock which fell from a separate vehicle.
He was transported to hospital in Blairmore, but he could not be resuscitated.
The BC Coroners Service, the provincial Inspector of Mines and the RCMP continue to investigate this death. The family of Mr. Lorenz has been notified of his death.

A 59-year-old Coal Mountain employee died early Sunday morning Teck Coal said in a written press release.
The release said the employee was involved in a serious incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday at Coal Mountain Operations that resulted in the death.
No other employees were injured and authorities, including officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mines, have initiated an investigation.
“I wish to offer my sincere condolences to the employee’s family, the workers at Coal Mountain Operations and the community,” B.C. Minister of Energy and Mines and MLA for Kootenay East Bill Bennett said in a written statement.
The Coal Mountain operation, producers of both steelmaking and thermal coal, is located 30 kilometres southeast of Sparwood in southeastern British Columbia and is comprised of approximately 3,000 hectares of coal lands.
