On Saturday, June 21, Kinnarid Park will be glowing with excitement for this year’s Relay for Life! As Cancer does not sleep, Relay for Life is an overnight event, full of live entertainment, group activities and inspiring ceremonies that aim to celebrate, remember and fight back against Cancer. As a part of the event, community members form teams that fundraise for Cancer research, awareness, palliative care, as well as financial assistance for families facing Cancer.

Some participants also choose to join a pre-existing team, in order to experience the fun. Flexible volunteer positions are available for those who wish to contribute a few hours of their time and energy on the day of Relay for Life. All public is welcome to attend any portion of the inspiring event. Key points include the Opening Ceremony and Survivors Lap at 6 p.m., the Luminary Ceremony at 10 p.m. and the Fight Back Ceremony in the wee hours.

If you are interested in participating or volunteering at the event, you can register at www.relaybc.ca or contact Christina Postnikoff at 365-7074 for more details. You can also find further information and updates on the Facebook page ‘Relay for Life Castlegar’.
