Name of Winlaw man released by BC Coroners Service
BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after a motor vehicle incident near Winlaw on (Monday) June 23 as Donald James Clark, aged 62, of Winlaw.
Clark was the driver and sole occupant of a pickup truck which was heading southbound on Slocan River Road about 3:30 p.m. on June 23 when it left the road, rolled and ended up in the Slocan River.
Clark was deceased at the scene of the incident.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
Man killed Monday after truck plunges into Slocan River
A local 63-year-old man has died after the truck he was driving plunged into the Slocan River Monday afternoon near Winlaw.
The driver from Winlaw, the sole occupant of a Chevy pickup truck, lost control of the vehicle on the Perry Siding road near the Winlaw Bridge at approximately 3:38 p.m. Monday, ending up in the swift moving river.
RCMP and Fire departments from Winlaw and Passmore were called to the accident scene as well as Beasley Swift water and Nelson Search and Rescue teams to assist in the recovery.
The vehicle was pulled from the Slocan River with the assistance of a nearby excavator supplied by Kevin Sutherland Contracting.
RCMP believe the possible cause of the crash is due to a medical condition.
The investigation has now been turned over to the BC Coroners Service and the West Kootenay Traffic Services.
