UPDATE: Trail accident proves fatal

A woman has died after a being struck by a car on Dec. 9 in Trail, according to RCMP Sgt. John Ferguson, whose press release reads as follows:

On Dec. 9  at approximately 7:13 p.m., Trail RCMP and the West Kootenay Traffic Services were dispatched to a single motor vehicle crash involving an automobile and two pedestrians on Second Avenue and Robertson Street, Trail.

 

On Dec 16, a 68-year-old Trail resident, who was one of the pedestrians, succumbed to her injuires and passed away.

 

This crash is being investigated by the West Kootenay Traffic Services and alcohol, distracted driving and speed are not factors in this crash.  Investigation is continuing.

On Dec. 9,  at approximately 7:13 p.m., Trail RCMP and the West Kootenay Traffic Services were dispatched to a single motor vehicle crash involving an automobile and two pedestrians on Second Avenue and Robertson Street, according to RCMP Sgt. John Ferguson.

 

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old female Trail resident was travelling along Second Avenue and failed to see two elderly female pedestrians in the crosswalk at Robertson Street and collided with them,” Ferguson said. “The first pedestrian suffered serious injuries and is being treated at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. The second female has been transported to Kelowna Hospital with head injuries and in severe condition.

 

“This crash is being investigated by the West Kootenay Traffic Services and alcohol and speed are not factors in this crash. The investigation is continuing.”
