Updated: False bomb threat shuts down Coquitlam school
The precautionary lockdown implemented at Scott Creek Middle School this morning has been lifted. Shortly after 8 a.m. this morning, the Coquitlam RCMP received an anonymous phone call claiming there was a bomb at Scott Creek Middle School. The RCMP immediately deployed its full resources to the school to ensure the safety of students, parents and school staff.
Staff and students who were at the school were evacuated and remained under the care of school staff. Parents whose children were not yet at school were advised to keep their children at home until further notice.
The school and its surrounding area were thoroughly search by the Integrated Police Dog Service and Coquitlam RCMP, and nothing suspicious was located.
At 10:30 a.m., the school was deemed safe and students and staff were allowed back into the school.

Scott Creek Middle School in Coquitlam is undergoing a precautionary lockout by police, according to RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung.
Chung didn’t provide any information as to the reason for the lockout, saying only that students and staff are being locked out of the building.
“Parents are asked to keep students at home until further notice. Parents may still drop off students at the school if suitable arrangements cannot be made,” he said. “Students currently at the school have been evacuated and are being cared for by school staff on the field.
“Parents are asked to not pick up their student if they are already at school. The school will remain closed until deemed safe to re-enter by the RCMP. The timeline for this is currently unknown.”
Chung said the department will be posting updates on their website regarding the situation.
