With 4 new art galleries/studios opening for Rekindle the Spirit of Christmas on December 5th in Rossland, the event is going to be an exciting day for artists and art patrons alike.

Rekindle The Spirit of Christmas sees the official opening of the new Jenny Baillie and Louise Drescher studio and gallery space in downtown Rossland. This will be a shared working studio that also incorporates a gallery area to exhibit their paintings.  It is located downstairs in the Velvet Building, at the flashing light on Columbia Avenue, and the public can access the gallery from either Columbia Avenue or the alley behind. Everyone is welcome to drop in and chat — or paint.  New paintings will be on show and for sale.  Louise will also be hosting a story reading at 3pm in the gallery/studio.

The new Stephanie Gauvin Art Studio is also having its grand opening during Rekindle the Spirit of Christmas.  Her studio is located on Washington Street, just down from the Butch Boutry Ski Shop.  She will be offering hot mulled cider and free posters and will have her work on display and for sale.  Stephanie Gauvin recently had her art work featured on a collectible Canadian coin.  She will be signing coins for those who have purchased one, a truly unique gift idea for this season.  Her studio will be open from 1pm – 4pm.

Maboue, a local handmade ceramic jewelry business, is opening in downtown Rossland at 2118 Columbia Ave.  They make every piece out of raw clay and roll, form, glaze, fire and assemble everything with patience and love.  Maboue’s studio will also serve as a shop for her jewelry and other unique, contemporary and local handmade products.

Two doors down, Treasure Mountain JewelShop, another jewelry store, is opening its doors.  Jami is a graduate Jeweler, Auction and Estate Sale Hunter who creates and sells Sterling Silver jewelry inspired by natural organic forms.  She is currently working to capture floral motifs,  Victorian components, asymmetrical branches, spiraling sea shells and complex patterns in sterling silver.  Jami will also sell a wide range of vintage jewelry in various styles.

Alley Cat Glass Works shows the work of an established Rossland glass artist who is holding her annual gallery open house for Rekindle, located at 1855 Earl St. from 1-6pm.  The downtown Rossland Art Gallery located in the Bank of Montreal building will also be open, displaying art and hosting live music for the event.

Come visit Rossland on December 5th to check out these new and established galleries, and take part in all the other activities going on for the Rekindle event.  More event details can be found at tourismrossland.com.
