Starting on Thursday, June 14, audiences will gather in Trail’s Gyro Park to hear music from favourite local performers and touring bands. Jazz, bluegrass, Celtic rock, rhythm & blues, funk and reggae – something for all tastes, and it’s all good fun in a beautiful setting.

Bring a lawn chair or a blanket, and a toonie each, or more if you can spare it, to donate to the event. It starts at 7:00 pm and happens each Thursday evening (weather permitting) until August 30. Two Tuesday events are also planned: on Tuesday, July 10, the Kootenay Fiddle Camp will play east-coast old-time music, and on Tuesday, August 21, the Lester McLean Band from Toronto will provide R&B, soul, and jazz.

Two Thursdays will also feature “Night Markets” with food trucks and a beer garden, open from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm: July 19 and August 16.

On July 19, the Derina Harvey Band will energize everyone with “east coast kitchen party” Celtic rock, with traditional tunes and some original jigs and reels – after an opening act by Brett Wildemann. The August 16 market night will have the Hillties, and Tim Hurley and the Vultures: reggae and roots.

Music in the Park is made possible by Kootenay Savings, BC Arts Council, BC Touring Council and Teck Metals Ltd., and we thank all those sponsors – as well as the volunteers who work to make it a reality.
