The Trail Smoke Eaters are excited to announce that Connor Welsh has committed to Dalhousie University for the 2018-2019 season. The Dalhousie University Tigers participate in the Atlantic University Sport Conference, which competes in Canadian USports.

In 2016, Welsh began his British Columbia Hockey League career with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, where he earned 21 points in 57 games. He started the 2017-18 season with the Bulldogs before being traded in January to the Smoke Eaters. Welsh performed well for Trail, registering 5 goals and 5 assists, provided solid defensive minutes and veteran leadership in the 16 games after the trade. During the playoffs, Welsh was a key player for the Smoke Eaters, helping the team into the third round of the playoffs.

A Halifax native, Welsh is pleased to be joining a team he has followed all his life. “I’m extremely excited to be able to play hockey and further my education at Dalhousie,” says Welsh. “Being a local guy, I’ve known about the school my entire life and I’m thrilled to be able to play hockey at home once again.” The twenty-year-old defenceman plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology while playing for the Tigers.

Once again, it pleases the organization greatly to see another young man be able to pursue his academic and athletic ambitions after graduating from our program. The Smoke Eaters look forward to following Connor as he enters the next stage of his hockey career at Dalhousie.
