Free universal design training being offered in Castlegar and Nakusp

Join Kootenay Rockies Tourism and Spinal Cord Injury BC for an interactive Universal Design workshop. The workshop is an introduction to Universal Design and how it applies to tourism and our communities. The workshop will provide staff from local government, tourism stakeholders and outdoor recreation professionals and practitioners an introduction of skills and knowledge to incorporate universal design into programming, facility design, construction and maintenance programs for parks, recreation, business and civic facilities.

Learning objectives include the differences between accessible building codes and designs, common barriers in the built environment, common dimension and designs that will improve universal use of facilities, the economic benefits and key elements of universal design, practical tips and more.
