Selkirk College Saints Back Home for Final Games of Semester
The Selkirk College Saints return home this weekend where the team hopes the holiday spirit will be on their side as they wrap up the first semester of play against the Simon Fraser University Clan.
Winless in their last four British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) games, the Saints head into the two-game set against Simon Fraser tied for third place with the Burnaby-based Clan. The Saints are 4-4-0-2 so far this season.
This past weekend, the Saints battled hard on the road in Vancouver Island, but only came away with one point. On Friday night against the University of Victoria Vikes, Tristen Cross, Jaiden LaPorte and Tayden Woods scored for the Saints, but the home side tied the game with less than a minute left in the third period to send it into overtime and went onto a shootout victory. On Saturday night in Nanaimo, the Saints threw 26 third period shots on the Vancouver Island University net, but Mariners goaltender Matt Huber held his team in for a 3-2 win.
Both games on Friday and Saturday night will be played at the Castlegar & District Recreation Centre starting at 7 p.m. It will be the first time the Saints and Clan have played this season.
