Fatal crash on Hwy 1 west of Golden

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, at roughly11:50 a.m., Golden RCMP, Trans Canada East Traffic Services (TCETS) and Emergency Services responded to a fatal collision on Highway 1, near Donald, BC, according to RCMP Cpl. Mike Halskov.

“Upon arrival it was determined that a semi truck jack-knifed into oncoming traffic and collided with a passenger vehicle. The driver of the semi truck was not injured, however one person in the passenger vehicle died at the scene.

“Police are in the very early stages of this investigation and details are limited.  The cause of the crash is not yet known, and nothing has been ruled out.  Highway 1 is closed in both directions as the investigation continues.  Traffic control personnel are on scene.  Motorists can monitor DriveBC.ca for updates regarding the road closure and any detours available.

“TCETS Golden has conduct of the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this crash, including any dashboard camera video, is asked to call TCETS in Golden at 250-344-2221.

“No further information is available at this time and no further updates will be published.”
