If you are eligible for a Home Owner Grant (HOG), you must claim your HOG prior to paying your property tax and it must be done through the Province of British Columbia, not through the City of Trail. In order to avoid penalties and interest, claim your HOG before the tax due date of July 4, 2022. Claim your HOG:
- at www.gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant. The Jurisdiction number for Trail is 232. When entering your Roll No., located on the top right of your statement, do not include the first 0 (zero).
- by phone 1-888-355-2700 to speak with a live agent.
Direct all Home Owner Grant questions to the province at 1-888-355-2700.
A 10% penalty will be applied on any unpaid taxes and unclaimed Home Owner Grant amounts after the property tax due date of July 4, 2022.
The above information is also available in the full-colour insert included with the property tax statements.
